I wanted to chat with y’all a minute about editing trends. One of the things you may or may not know is that there is a big movement to using Ai as a photographer in editing. While I am not saying using this service as a photographer is bad, but I do have some feelings on it personally.
So here goes…
When hiring me as a photographer, I feel very strongly about being the one that has eyes on every one of your pictures. This is my craft and I like to think that in hiring me you want my creative eye on the process beginning to end. So guess what y’all, it’s me, I am the one that culls through all of the images I take of your family. After each cull, I also edit them in Lightroom. I go through each picture a second pass and make any necessary editing in Photoshop to make sure it is something I am proud of and reflects my work.
Why does this matter? It may not be something you even think about, honestly. But for me I want to offer the best possible service to my clients and that is what matters to me. I have been taking pictures, editing digital images and fine tuning my skill set for the last 20 years. Since it is important to me that when you hire me, you get my expertise, I will continue to be the one that does all of the edits personally!
Would it save me time to have someone else do it?! Yes, it probably would save me time if I were to outsource some of my editing. But I would rather give up control of some other things to be able to focus my time on the creative side of my job. The photo taking and the editing. I love being the person you see at a session, I love interacting with you and your kids. And honestly, I love editing your images!! When I am editing I catch myself smiling at all of the pictures remembering each moment.
